WAUPACA, WI (WFRV) – Since 1932, Simpson’s has been serving dinner to generations. While it’s no longer owned by the Simpson family, Brynn DeHay is a close family friend who purchased the business along with her husband, Danny.
After meeting at a restaurant in Oregon, they decided they wanted to raise their two sons, Tzion and Omri, in Wisconsin.
They keep all the Simpson recipes and traditions alive, such as the Tom and Jerry cocktail on Christmas Eve.

“I’ve been coming here as long as I can remember and Christmas Eve is a big event,” Brynn told Local 5 News. “Everyone comes in and eats Tom and Jerry’s.”
She said the base is almost like a batter, with cinnamon and nutmeg playing an important role.
“It’s egg-based, so when you add hot water to it, it puffs up like a soufflé. Oh, and the booze, of course. It’s very strong, but it has that lovely warm, Christmassy feel.”
Danny added that the large bar is one of Simpson’s best features.
“I think that’s where it starts. Great bar, great cocktails,” Danny said. “Simpson’s means a lot to Waupaca and the area and it’s a really good feeling to be a part of it.”
It was during the interview on the terrace behind the dining club that DaHay’s sons decided to join the conversation.
“So you guys are taking over? Or are you guys already running it?” joked Local 5’s Michele McCormack.
“I think so,” Omri said with a wide grin.

Simpson’s is located on Main at Badger Streets in downtown Waupaca, Wisconsin.
