Claims for unemployment benefits in Pennsylvania fell last week

Initial jobless claims in Pennsylvania fell last week compared to the week before, the U.S. Department of Labor said Thursday.

New jobless claims, a gauge of layoffs, fell to 12,533 in the week ended June 22, from 14,996 the week before, the Labor Department said.

The number of jobless claims in the US fell to 233,000 last week. That is 6,000 fewer than the 239,000 applications from the previous week, after seasonal adjustment.

Vermont saw the largest percentage increase in weekly claims, with claims rising 268.4%. Delaware, meanwhile, saw the largest percentage decline in new claims, with claims falling 38.1%.
