A 7-Eleven clerk was attacked early Sunday morning by a group of nearly 50 people who had looted the Anaheim store.
According to Anaheim police, it happened around 1:30 a.m. at the convenience store at the 500 block of S. Knott Avenue.
Officers were already en route to the area after learning of a street robbery at the intersection of Knott Avenue and Orange Avenue, when they also received reports of a robbery at the same location.
Still, it took officers a while to get to the store due to traffic caused by the sideshow and by the time they arrived the suspects had fled the area, the APD statement said.
Video of the scene that recently went viral on social media shows the group looting the store, climbing on counters and pushing over shelves.
Several video footage shows two men wearing masks attacking the store clerk as they try to break through the door. Eventually, a suspect wearing a gray hoodie can be seen holding what appears to be a large rock as they threaten the clerk to back away so the crowd can enter.
Police say the clerk suffered minor injuries, including a nosebleed.
An undisclosed amount of money was taken from the store’s cash registers, including an undisclosed amount of merchandise.
As of Sunday evening, no information was available about any suspects involved in the incident.
