Cobb County police say technology and a handful of other tools helped them arrest three murder suspects wanted for crimes outside the county.
Police say each suspect was on the run before officers tracked them down.
“There was a murder suspect from DeKalb County, Fulton County and Villa Rica who victimized people. They happened to be traveling through Cobb County,” said PIO Officer Aaron Wilson of the Cobb County Police Department.

The police were able to arrest Karlton Sirmons in November.
Officers said Sirmons took them on a brief chase before they caught him. He is accused of shooting three people, killing one and assaulting a child in Villa Rica.
Cobb County police said their license plate readers flagged Sirmons’ car as he entered the county.

Ten days later, Cobb police tracked down another murder suspect. They credit technology and an officer’s intuition for catching Derrick Anderson.
“The officer’s ability to investigate while conducting a traffic stop allowed him to locate the passenger in the vehicle who was connected to a homicide elsewhere,” Officer Wilson said.
Investigators said Anderson led police at a high rate of speed before crashing and running away. The police caught him the next day.
“How this officer pulled this off is honestly quite creative. But he used the resources at his disposal and was able to find out that the man in the vehicle was involved in a murder somewhere else,” Officer Wilson said.

Wilson told it Michele Newell, Channel 2’s Cobb County Bureau Chief that Flock cameras helped police make the third arrest of a suspect wanted out of Dekalb County.
“The technology at our disposal allowed officers to locate and take into custody these murder suspects in a span of 30 days,” said Officer Wilson.
