Cold conditions will continue Tuesday with morning lows in the 20s and daytime highs only in the mid-40s in the Philadelphia region.
The normal high temperature this time of year is around 50 degrees. Wednesday will be similar, but cloud cover will increase ahead of our next weather maker, which will arrive Thursday morning, prompting the NEXT Weather team to issue a weather warning as another boost of even colder air arrives from Canada.
This strengthening cold front offers a chance of local rain and snow showers on Thursday morning, followed by a sharp drop in the mercury on Thursday afternoon.
Now that the wind is increasing again, the perceived temperature will not rise much above 25 degrees from the end of Thursday until at least the first part of Saturday. This weekend it will be a bit more seasonal. It will be back into the upper 40s for the Eagles game on Sunday.
While our forecast predicts only a few spotty snow showers on Thursday, there is one spot with several feet of snow near the Great Lakes. The lake effect snow machine runs in high gear, with snow tires dumping heavy snow on the east and southeast sides of the lakes. If you travel that way, be prepared for slow travel and snowy roads.
While things may calm down a bit by mid-week, another blast of lake effect snow will arrive with that colder Canadian air towards the end of the week.
Stay with us here, the NEXT Weather Team will keep you informed of any future changes.
