The 32-year-old father of a 9-year-old boy was shot dead outside his grandfather’s house in Compton was arrested Saturday evening, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department announced Monday.
Detectives identified Nicholas Jones of Compton as the suspect and on December 1 he was arrested for murder and child abuse resulting in death.
On Saturday, November 30th around 7:30 PM, Compton Sheriff’s Station officers responded to the 15000 block of South Haskins Avenue in reference to a person shot. The victim was 9-year-old Princeton Jones who was found in the backyard of the home, suffering from gunshot wounds and pronounced dead at the scene.
Jones was booked into the East Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station. The investigation is ongoing and no additional information is available at this time.
