Officials with the California Department of Fish & Wildlife are busy searching for a deer involved in a Hollywood Hills neighborhood after several photos of the animal with a bone in its mouth surfaced on social media.
Some who lived in the area used the NextDoor app and posted photos and messages seeking help for the animal.
The photos show the deer, which posters say appears to be female, with a large bone sticking out of its mouth. His tongue also sticks out of the side of his mouth, which he can’t seem to close.
They believe that because of the way the bone is stuck, the animal cannot eat, which can eventually lead to starvation.
SkyCal was over the Hollywood Reservoir as conservationists and park rangers searched the area for deer Monday afternoon. During the search, walking and jogging paths were closed, but they proved unsuccessful.
They plan to continue their search until they can locate the animal.
