Police are hunting the creep who hurled a racial slur at an Asian man before hitting him over the head with a thermos in Manhattan, police and law enforcement sources said.
The unsuspecting victim was walking on Amsterdam Ave. around 10:15 a.m. on Monday, June 17. near W. 113th St. in Morningside Heights when the suspect approached him and shouted, “Go back to your country!” before hitting him in the head with the metal thermos, the sources said.
The suspect ran away and is still at large. Surveillance photos show the man wearing a white T-shirt, black shorts, black shoes and a black backpack.
The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the attack. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
