Crash near Park River, North Dakota, claims lives

June 8—PARK RIVER, ND — A 60-year-old man was killed Saturday in a single-vehicle crash on a highway east of Park River.

The incident occurred around 5 a.m. on June 8 on State Highway 17, seven miles east of Park River, in rural Walsh County.

According to a North Dakota Highway Patrol report, the crash involved a Ford F150 hitting a tree.

The report said that “the driver of the F150 was traveling west on State Highway 17 at the ‘Hoople turn’. The driver failed to negotiate the turn and drove west into the ditch of State Highway 17. The driver struck a tree the north ditch and suffered fatal injuries from striking the tree.

The crash is still under investigation. In addition to the Highway Patrol, other agencies involved included the Walsh County Sheriff’s Office and Park River Ambulance.

The driver’s name will be released later.
