Emergency services responded to a crash on the Pacific Coast Highway near Thornhill Broome Beach in Ventura County Tuesday evening, blocking the route in both directions.
According to the Ventura County Fire Department and the California Highway Patrol, the collision, which callers described as head-on, was reported around 8:25 p.m. on a stretch of road between Point Mugu and the beach.
Firefighters on scene reported that three vehicles were heavily damaged.
According to radio reports, emergency services reported treating seven patients.
The freeway was completely blocked in both directions as of 9:30 p.m., CHP officials reported on social media, calling the incident a major accident and advising motorists to avoid the route.
