MINNEAPOLIS— Police in Minneapolis responded to a crime spree and a fatal shooting within hours of each other on Saturday morning.

Around 10 a.m., police became aware of a crime spree in the Third District, with several incidents occurring around the 4100 block of Elliott Ave. The attack involved two vehicles that police suspect were stolen and youths breaking into other cars.

At one point the youths pointed a gun at a person. A pursuit was initiated and officers pursued a vehicle into the Longfellow neighborhood. The young people were subsequently released on bail. The police were able to take three into custody. She also found four handguns which she took possession of.

The three young people are all known to the police.

About an hour and a half later, police were called to a shooting on 34rd Street, between Knox and James. Police arrived on scene and found a man with gunshot wounds on the ground next to a car.

Officers approached him and discovered he was not breathing. Police then began CPR before taking the victim to a local hospital. There he was pronounced dead.

Police believe the man was shot while sitting in his car and that the person knew the shooter.

The shooting is being investigated by police.
