July 3—POLK COUNTY, Minn. — A Crookston man arrested in October for allegedly raping an intoxicated woman faces two additional, related felony charges.
Susano Isaiah Padilla, 21,
was initially charged
with criminal sexual conduct in the first degree and criminal sexual conduct in the third degree.
An amended criminal complaint filed on Tuesday, July 2, added one count each of first-degree criminal sexual acts with intent to penetrate, cause injury and use force, and third-degree criminal sexual acts with intent to penetrate, cause injury and use force.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed in the case, the alleged victim’s roommate reported sexual assault at 1:18 a.m. on October 3.
The woman had gone to the emergency room for an evaluation. Later that day, police reviewed the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) report. The report noted bruises on the woman’s neck and chest, abrasions on her back, and injuries to her genitals.
She told police she remembered Padilla hitting her on the back and throwing her around, the affidavit said.
“She couldn’t do anything, she had no control over anything, she had way too much to drink,” the statement said.
Padilla is scheduled to make his initial appearance on the additional charge on July 11 at 9 a.m.
