Crowds fill the streets of Philadelphia’s Chestnut Hill area for the 40th annual Fall for the Arts Festival

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Large crowds filled the streets of Germantown Avenue in the Chestnut Hill area of Philadelphia on Sunday for the 40th annual Fall for the Arts Festival.

There was art of all kinds on display, with over 200 artists presenting their work on what turned out to be a picturesque day.

Win Gregg and her family came all the way from Doylestown to be there.

“It’s a very special festival,” she said.

Gregg was one of thousands of people who filled the street to check out the various vendors.

“We have watercolor, oil, acrylic, photography. Something for everyone. All different mediums,” said Courtney O’Neill of Chestnut Hill Business District.

For some artists, like Bill Ozzredd, it was the first time they had the opportunity to participate.

“So happy to be here today. It’s a beautiful day. Lots of people. A great opportunity to show my art… I couldn’t ask for more,” he said.

O’Neill said the festival continues to grow. She said it started as a sidewalk sale and has grown to an event that has taken over seven city blocks.

“We actually found out that Fall for the Arts last year drew about 9,500 people. So almost 10,000 people,” she said. “And today, I have to say, it feels like more.”

And for Gregg and her family, the festival did not disappoint.

“It was a beautiful day,” she said.

And it’s an event they’re already looking forward to for next year.
