MINNEAPOLIS— Leading cybersecurity experts are gathering for a three-day summit in the Twin Cities this week – just days before the 2024 presidential election.
In its 14th year, the Cyber Security Summit will showcase research, achievements and innovation in online protection.
The event attracts experts from both the private and public sectors.
“Cyber security affects everyone,” said Elizabeth Stevens, communications director for the event. “This is something that’s just going to be essential.”
Over the course of the week, more than 1,000 participants will take part in workshops. For board member Mark Ritchie, the event couldn’t have come at a better time.
“These cyber questions are serious,” he said.
Ritchie, the former Minnesota secretary of state, said the agency has done and continues to do everything possible to keep the election safe.
“That’s how we keep the trust — and I’m hopeful that Minnesota always brings those two things together,” he said. “We have the most effective, professional, skilled, trained and skilled people on our team protecting our elections. We will not allow anyone next door, or anyone around the world, to manipulate or change or influence our elections in any way. “
