The Davis Fire near Reno has burned more than 3,000 acres and firefighters expect the blaze to continue through Sunday due to gusty winds, according to Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue.

By Sunday, the fire had already burned 1,330 hectares and no progress had been made in bringing the fire under control.

According to Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue, evacuations were issued in St. James Village, Galena and areas south of Mt Rose Highway.

On Saturday, the fire led to a power outage for approximately 18,700 Nevada Energy customers to prevent possible ignitions. Power remained out in areas south of Mt. Rose Highway until Sunday.

The fire also closed Interstate 580 between Carson and Reno.

It reopened on Sunday, but Highway 395A remained closed in the Washoe Valley. Mt. Rose Highway and Highway 431 were also closed northbound from I-580 to the Summit, and southbound it was closed at Mt. Rose Summit.
