Dead man found while government worker conducts water survey in Sacramento River, sheriff says

A California Department of Fish and Wildlife official conducting a routine water survey in the Sacramento River found a body Sunday, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.

A man washed up on the banks of the river in Courtland, on the 11000 block of River Road, said Sgt. Amar Gandhi, a spokesman for the sheriff’s office.

Officers, who were notified of the call around 3:30 p.m., found no obvious signs of a suspicious death, Gandhi said.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will identify the man and determine the cause of death.
