Oct. 19 – The Maine Marine Patrol and the Knox County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the death of a seasonal Cushing resident whose body was discovered Friday evening on the shore near Gaunt Neck Road.
The man, 83-year-old Donald McBeth, of Vero Beach, Florida, was a seasonal resident of Cushing, the Department of Marine Resources said in a news release.
Marine Patrol was notified around 7 p.m. Friday that the family had reported McBeth missing after he failed to show up for a meeting, the news release said. Search teams found McBeth’s body on the shore near Gaunt Neck Road at approximately 8 p.m
McBeth was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner, DMR said. McBeth’s cause of death remains under investigation.
