A death investigation is underway after a decomposing body was found on the side of the 101 Freeway in Studio City on Tuesday.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers were dispatched to the area, located along the freeway embankment near Moorpark Street, around 9 a.m.
They were called after receiving a report of a “death in plain sight” about 400 feet below the wash, police said.
California Highway Patrol investigators say the body had been dead for two months and was in advanced stages of decomposition. It was discovered in a makeshift shelter.
They could not determine the cause of death or whether the body was a man or a woman.
No signs of foul play were discovered and the body was taken for further examination by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.
