(CBS-DETROIT) – A Delta Air Lines flight from Munich to Detroit was diverted to London on Friday due to illness among cabin crew, an airline spokesman said.

Delta spokesman Anthony Black confirmed that Delta Flight 23 has landed at Heathrow Airport and six flight attendants are being checked by medical staff.

They try to learn more about their symptoms to determine the cause of the disease. There were 229 passengers on the plane, but none were affected, according to Black.

The airline will get a new crew and fly the passengers to Boston. In Boston they will change pilots and then go to Detroit.

The plane will likely arrive at Detroit Metro Airport five hours or more than originally planned.

Black says they are working to determine how they will compensate passengers.

A passenger on the flight told CBS News Detroit that during meal service, one of the flight attendants asked them if they were okay. That was when it first appeared there was a problem with the passenger.

This passenger also said the problem appeared to be limited to the forward galley of the aircraft.
