Delta flight to Amsterdam diverted after spoiled meals found on board

A Delta Air Lines flight to Amsterdam made an emergency landing in New York City after reports that some meals on board had been spoiled.

The 277 passengers aboard Delta Flight 136, which flew from Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport to Amsterdam on Tuesday evening, were diverted to John F. Kennedy International Airport after it was discovered that some of the food in the main cabin had been spoiled.

After reports of spoiled food came in, Delta consulted medical experts who recommended diverting the plane to New York.

It is not known how many people ate the tainted food, but doctors were waiting for the plane when it landed in New York around 4 a.m. Wednesday to provide medical assistance to any crew and passengers who needed it.
