No injuries were reported after a plane landed on the New York State Thruway near Albany on Friday.
State police said a twin-piston Beechcraft Travel Air plane made an emergency landing on the north side of the Thruway near Exit 23 about 12:43 a.m. Friday after the pilot, Logan M. Steed, 19, of Winnsboro, South Carolina, realized he would not make the runway at Albany International Airport due to mechanical problems.
Also on board were two passengers, Steven D. Strunk, 54, and April D. Strunk, 52, both of Mount Perry, Ohio, according to police.
The plane, which is registered to a flight training school in Winnsboro, South Carolina, took off from Fairfield County Airport in Winnsboro at 8:35 a.m. and was headed to Bennington, VT. The pilot attempted to land at Albany International Airport due to mechanical problems.
State police and the Federal Aviation Administration continue to investigate the incident.
