The Cowboys’ lack of activity at wide receiver in free agency attracted a lot of attention this season, but there is one notable new face working with the group in their organized team activities.
Reporters at practice this week noticed running back Deuce Vaughn taking reps with the team’s wideouts. Working from the slot, Vaughn said after the session that trying out is something he and offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer have talked about for a while.
“It was one of those things we talked about at the end the season last yearVaughn said via the team’s website. ‘In conversation with [Schottenheimer] another little bit about dealing with the slot. . . . Just learn a little more about it. Because it’s one of the things I did in college that I love doing. Just adds extra value.”
A sixth-round pick last year, Vaughn ran 23 times for 40 yards while also catching seven passes for 40 yards.
