Disneyland employee dies after falling from moving golf cart at amusement park

A Disneyland employee died after falling from a moving golf cart and hitting her head at the Anaheim theme park.

The woman was identified as 60-year-old Bonnye Mavis Lear of Fullerton, according to Orange County coroner’s spokesman Sgt. Frank Gonzalez.

Authorities responded to the area of ​​West Ball Road and South West Street in Disneyland’s Private Club 33 around 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 5, for a report of a crash.

When police arrived on the scene, they discovered Lear fell from a moving golf cart and hit her head. She was taken to the hospital and died Friday from her injuries, Anaheim police said.

Ken Potrock, president of the Disneyland Resort, offered condolences and said the company was focused on supporting her family and colleagues.

“We are heartbroken by the loss of Bonnye and extend our sincere condolences to all who cared for her,” said Ken Potrock, president of the Disneyland Resort. His statement further read, “we are focused on supporting her family and our cast members during this tragic event and ensuring they have the resources they need.”

Lear worked in membership support services at Club 33, a members-only restaurant and lounge located in the New Orleans Square section of the park.
