Dog attack in Boston sends four people to hospital, source says woman’s arm is close to being taken

BOSTON – Four people, including two police officers, have been sent to the hospital after a dog attack in Boston. According to police, one of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries.

Dog attack almost takes off the arm

It happened just after 4:30 pm on Monday on Dennison Street in Roxbury.

According to police, the dog belongs to two of the victims. A source close to the situation tells WBZ-TV that the dog bit one of the owners on the arm, almost causing it to come off, and then her husband jumped in to save her. When he tried to save his wife, he was bitten too.

“The Homicide Unit was called to the scene due to the extent of the injuries,” said Deputy Chief Paul McLaughlin of the Boston Police Department.

A neighbor across the street witnessed the incident but asked to remain anonymous. He says the responding officers asked the people in the house if there was another way to enter the house.

They were concerned about the aggression of the dogs behind the fence. As soon as the gate opens, surveillance footage from a neighbor’s house shows the officer being attacked.

“I could hear her scream a little bit and then walk back. The gate was open and then the dog came out and chased the other officer,” the anonymous neighbor said. “He was walking backwards, backwards, and he tried to tell the dog to back off. But then the dog got quite aggressive.”

He watched as the officer shot the animal.

“I mean it has to be done. You can’t attack or bite people. This wasn’t just a little bite. It’s a pretty bad attack,” said Kim Beaudet, a neighbor who lives across the street. “They bark. They haven’t really been socialized all day. They were always behind the fence, I mean the fence. They weren’t particularly friendly, but they were always behind the fence.”
