CROWN POINT, Ind. (CBS) — Firefighters battled a fire at an apartment complex in Crown Point, Indiana, early Sunday morning.
The Crown Point Fire Department responded to the 900 block of Cypress Point Drive just before 3:30 a.m. for a structure fire. Upon arrival they saw heavy fire coming from the roof of the complex. Local residents were evacuated.
The fire was under control within an hour and the accident scene was cleared just after 7 a.m.
No people were injured, but according to the fire brigade, a dog was killed in the fire.
The complex had 36 units, all affected by the fire, of which four were destroyed and four suffered smoke and water damage.
The American Red Cross is helping residents of the complex find temporary housing.
According to the fire department, it is not clear how many of the units were occupied at the time of the fire.
