Donald Trump says he’s returning to Butler for rally after attempted assassination

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Former President Donald Trump says he is returning to Butler County for a rally after surviving an assassination attempt earlier this month.

In a post on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump said Friday that he would return to Butler County for a rally in honor of Corey Comperatore, who was shot and killed during his July 13 rally in Butler Township on the grounds of the Butler Farm Show, and the two men who were wounded. Trump did not specify a date or location for the rally, saying only: “Stay tuned for more information.”

The July 13 shooter, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, killed Comperatore and wounded David Dutch And James Copenhaver when he opened fire from a rooftop near the rally. A bullet grazed Trump’s ear.

A CBS News analysis found that the shooter fired eight times in less than six seconds before being shot dead by a U.S. Secret Service sniper.

On Thursday, Trump announced a rally for July 31 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. It will be his first time back in Pennsylvania since the attempted assassination.
