Don’t Miss These New “Hidden” Minnesota State Fair Dishes

FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. — There are 33 official new foods to enjoy at the 2024 Minnesota State Fair. But there are a few other new options flying under the radar.

You’ll find Gingko Coffee’s Honey & Spice Shake-up, a new, hidden option in the dining room of Hamline Church.

“It’s espresso, honey, cardamom, cinnamon, and oat milk — shaken until the foam is perfect,” says Autumn Arsenault of Gingko Coffee.

Tejas Express in the Garden will feature two new, unofficial dishes that have been featured at the fair for 25 years.

“One is a shrimp aguachile, so it’s shrimp and then it’s fried and marinated in a spicy cilantro and green chile puree. And it has avocado and it comes with chips,” said Mark Haugen of Tejas Express. “And we also got a grilled steak taco. It’s flank steak, marinated in a kind of carne asada style, served with a jicama coleslaw, lightly dressed with a roasted corn relish. We grill it on a wood-fired grill.”

At MomoDosa in the International Bazaar, Rashmi Bhattachan and her company serve fried momo on a stick.

“These are steamed chicken pot stickers from Nepal, and there is ground chicken, onion, garlic in the package. And we steam them and fry them. Very juicy and nice texture,” Bhattachan said.

And don’t miss these other hidden fairground products:

  • Deep-Fried Candy Bars Deep-Fried Red Velvet Oreos
  • Peanut butter honey cream soda float from the Ag-Hort building
  • Lulu’s Public House PB&J Cookie

Also with nearly three dozen new offers and six new vendors, so there will be plenty to taste for visitors to the fair. Click here to see some of the WCCO team’s favorites.
