A 26-year-old Douglassville man was killed Sunday morning in a motorcycle crash on Interstate 95 in New Castle, Delaware, according to Delaware State Police.
Soldiers gave the following account:
At approximately 8:35 a.m., the motorcyclist, who police did not identify, was riding south near Basin Road behind a group of other motorcyclists. He accelerated to pass them and passed them at a high rate of speed. The motorcycle’s rear tire locked, causing it to skid. The motorcycle fell onto its right side and slid onto the right shoulder of the road.
The rider, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld until his family is notified.
The road was closed for about five hours.
