WARWICK – About 30 handguns were stolen from a gun shop in Warwick early Thursday morning, Warwick police said.

The incident happened around 3:52 a.m. at Rhode Island Guns and Ammo, 1175 Post Road.

Responding to an alarm, officers observed that the entrance doors to the store had been destroyed and that “multiple gun cases appeared to have been broken into” and their contents taken from the business, Warwick police said in a news release.

The police suspect that thirty weapons have been stolen.

Warwick detectives are investigating and have many leads, police said.
