Draymond earns tech for ‘unsportsmanlike flail’ in Warriors-Thunder originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area
Draymond Green came close to repeating an incident from last season that resulted in a lengthy suspension.
Midway through the fourth quarter of the Warriors’ 127-116 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder at Sunday night’s Paycom Center, Green and Lu Dort tangled and the Golden State forward swung his arm, nearly making contact with Dort’s head.
The officials reviewed the play and ultimately assessed a technical foul on Green for an “unsportsmanlike flail”.
Last season, Green made a similar move, hitting Phoenix Suns big man Jusuf Nurkic in the head, causing the NBA to suspend the four-time NBA champion indefinitely.
The punishment lasted twelve games, with Green missing a few more games as he returned to playing condition.
Green finished Sunday’s win with eight points, 11 assists and four rebounds in 31 minutes of action.
It’s unclear whether Green’s latest action will lead to discipline from the NBA, but his history could at least get the league talking about it.
