Drivers urged to seek alternate route after semi fire blocks lanes of EB I-435 in JoCo

Motorists are advised to take an alternate route if they typically travel eastbound Interstate 435 in Overland Park for morning rush hour and errands.

Overland Park police are asking motorists to avoid eastbound I-435 at Quivira Road because a broken down truck is blocking a portion of the busy highway.

“Three lanes are currently blocked,” Overland Park police said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. “As morning rush hour approaches, motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes to avoid delays.”

Kansas City Scout showed two lanes still closed at 7:30 a.m.

Firefighters responded to the semi fire along eastbound I-435 between Quivira and U.S. 69 shortly after 1 a.m. Firefighters left the scene shortly before 6 a.m., according to PulsePoint, an app that displays fire and medical calls.
