Early voting begins Tuesday. Here you can vote to see who is on the ballot

Early voting begins Tuesday. Here you can vote to see who is on the ballot

The deadline for voter registration and the start of early voting for the November general election is almost here.

The deadline to register to vote is October 7. To register to vote online, visit indianavoters.com. Indiana residents with a valid Indiana driver’s license or a state-issued Indiana ID card can use this tool to submit a new voter registration application or update an existing voter registration record.

To register to vote or update your current registration by mail, you must complete and return the voter registration form on or before October 7:

You may also apply in person at the Voter Registration Office, located at 120 E. Mulberry St., Room 100, at any BMV licensing branch if you are conducting a “credentialing transaction,” such as obtaining a driver’s license, permit or identification. card or at a Public Social Welfare Center if you request help or services.

You have the right to vote in Indiana if:

* You are both a US citizen and a resident of Indiana; And

* You are at least 18 years old at or before the next General or Municipal Elections, and

* You are not currently in jail after being convicted of a crime; And

* You have lived in the district where you are voting for at least 30 days prior to the election; And

* You are registered to vote.

Early voting

Early voting will be available in the general election starting the next day, October 8.

In Howard County, seven election centers will be open for early voting. They are:

* Jeff Stout Government Center, 120 E. Mulberry St., Room 101, Kokomo. 8am to 4pm, October 8 to October 11 and weekdays October 15 to November 1, except 8am to 3pm on October 26; 8am to 3pm, November 2; and 8 a.m. to noon, Nov. 4.

* Carver Community Center, 1030 N. Purdum St., Kokomo, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Oct. 26 through Nov. 2.

* Greentown Lion’s Club, 610 E. Payton St., Greentown, 10 a.m.

* M. to 8 p.m., October 26 to November 2.

* Indiana Wesleyan, 1916 E. Markland Ave., Kokomo, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Oct. 26 through Nov. 2.

* Jerry Wooldridge Community Center, 3885 E. 300 S., Kokomo, Oct. 26 to Nov. 2, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

* Russiaville Lion’s Club, 555 N. Liberty St., Russiaville, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Oct. 26 through Nov. 2

*UAW Local No. 685, 929 E. Hoffer St., Kokomo, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Oct. 26 through Nov. 2.

There will be two early voting locations in Tipton County. They are:

* Tipton County Courthouse, second floor, 101 E. Jefferson St., Tipton: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Oct. 8 to Oct. 11; October 14 to October 18; October 21 to October 25; 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 26; 8am to 4pm October 28 to November 1: 8am to noon November 2; 8am to 2pm November 4.

* Sharpsville Fire Department, 158 W. Vine St.: 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 26 and Nov. 2.

There will be five early voting locations in Miami County. They are:

* Miami County Courthouse, 25 N. Broadway, Peru: weekdays, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM from October 8 to November 2; 10am to 2pm October 26 and November 2; and 8 a.m. to noon Nov. 4.

* Denver Baptist Church, 111 North Yorick St., Denver: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Oct. 26 and Nov. 2.

* Area 5 Agency, 661 E. Main St.: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 26 and Nov. 2.

* Bunker Hill First Free Will Baptist Church: 10am to 2pm, October 26 and November 2.

All three provinces unite the voting center system, meaning a registered voter can vote at any voting center, not just the one closest to their place of residence.
