East Chicago woman dies after jumping from moving vehicle during argument with boyfriend: police

CHICAGO (CBS) — An East Chicago woman has died after jumping from a moving vehicle during an argument with her boyfriend, officials say.

According to East Chicago police, the 21-year-old woman and her 25-year-old boyfriend, also from East Chicago, were driving home from Chicago near Dickey Road and Park Street just before 1 a.m. Saturday. when the incident occurred.

The friend told police they were arguing about attending another game with his friends when the woman allegedly opened the passenger door of the moving vehicle and got out.

The man immediately stopped the vehicle and noticed his girlfriend lying unconscious on the street.

Witnesses driving nearby stopped to help, called 911 and performed CPR until medics arrived.

Police arrived to find the unconscious woman at the curb, bleeding from her head.

The woman was transported to St. Catherine Hospital, where she died.

The names of those involved are being withheld pending family notification, officials said.

The case is being treated as a death investigation.
