Employee dies from injuries sustained in Santa Paula store shooting

The victim of a Santa Paula store shooting has died more than a week after he was injured, police say.

According to Santa Paula Police, it happened on December 11, just before 6 p.m., at the “Thomas 99 Cent Plus Store” located on Harvard Boulevard.

Georges Touma, 50, was injured in the shooting and remained in critical condition until he died Sunday, police said.

“Detectives are focusing on all information from witnesses on Harvard Blvd., including areas near the store and surrounding neighborhoods before, during and after the crime occurred,” a statement from SPPD said.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation and police are asking anyone with more information, including possible surveillance footage from nearby stores or homes, to contact them.

No information was provided on a suspect or motive in the incident.
