An overturned big rig led to a seven-mile backup along the southbound Highway 5 just north of Castaic Lake on Friday afternoon.
Just after 11:15 a.m., Los Angeles County Fire and the California Highway Patrol responded to a four-vehicle crash on the freeway near Templin Highway. The three drivers in the other vehicles were reported to be okay, but the driver of the large vehicle had to be cut out of the cab as they were trapped inside. The condition of the driver is unknown at this time.
There is significant backup on Highway 5 as first responders deal with the crash and overturned truck. According to traffic maps around 12:45 p.m., the backup stretched 7 miles of the highway, all the way to Pyramid Lake.
One right lane is open, allowing cars to trickle past the crashed truck.
