Falls police arrest man who blocks traffic on Ontario Avenue with debris

Aug. 19 – Niagara Falls police charged a city resident Saturday after receiving reports that he threw large rocks, cinder blocks and broken glass onto the road in the 900 block of Ontario Avenue.

Responding officers said they found a large section of the street covered in debris around 5:30 p.m. Saturday. Witnesses identified the 38-year-old man as the suspect. The witnesses said they were driving in the area and saw the man throwing rocks, cinder blocks and bottles onto the road, causing traffic to back up. Both drivers said they turned around out of fear of what the man might do to their cars.

According to them, the man seemed angry, but no further explanation was given as to why the rubble was thrown on the street.

The suspect was taken to the police station, where he was charged with disturbing the peace (obstructing traffic).
