FARGO, N.D., — Officials in Fargo have identified the two officers fatally shot an armed man on Wednesday.

According to Fargo police, officers were called to a home around 11 a.m. for medical attention for a suicidal person. When they arrived, they learned the man, identified as 65-year-old Peter Greco, was armed.

Medical teams tried to help the man, officials said, but Greco soon left the house with a gun.

Sergeant Lucas Mock and Officer Princeten Harris both fired their weapons, police said.

Mock is an eight-year veteran of the Fargo Police Department, while Harris has been on the force for 10 months. Harris is currently completing his field training, police say. Both officers have been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.

Fargo police said they had had contact with Greco at least once before.
