Farm Credit branches to collect supplies for hurricane relief

VERONA – Farm Credit of the Virginias (FCV), a credit union serving Virginia, West Virginia and Western Maryland, announced in a news release that its branches will serve as staging areas for supplies to support families affected by Hurricane Helene.

As farmers and rural communities in Southwest Virginia, Western North Carolina and East Tennessee continue to deal with power outages, limited broadband and cell phone reception, destroyed homes and roads and other challenges in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, FCV donates supplies at its branches throughout their service area to send to those in need.

If you are interested in donating supplies to support hurricane relief efforts, find the nearest branch (available). here on the FCV website). Branches will accept donations from October 4 to 11, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Branch in Verona is located at 1557 Commerce Road, Ste 202.

Please note: Cash or monetary donations cannot be accepted. Donations of new and unopened items are welcome.

Urgently needed items include:

  • The food items needed include peanut butter

  • canned meals (such as chili or spaghetti)

  • canned meat

  • canned fruit

  • bottled water and electrolyte drinks

  • candies and other comfort snacks for children

  • beans, pasta, rice, canned vegetables and prepackaged foods

Cleaning supplies needed include:

Personal items needed include:

  • baby food, diapers, baby wipes

  • coolers

  • reading glasses

  • detergent, washboards

  • mosquito repellent

  • toilet paper

  • solar charging items and battery banks

  • blankets

  • manual can openers

  • pet food
