FCA Serbia EV production closed

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) would start production of electric cars at its plant in the central Serbian city of Kragujevac in the second half of July, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said.

Vucic would inaugurate production at the Kragujevac plant together with representatives of FCA’s parent company Stellantis, he said in a public speech on Monday, according to SeeNews.com.

Vucic said the production would have a major impact on Serbia’s gross domestic product growth.

He said the new model would be presented for the first time in Italy on July 11.

Vucic also announced that the government would provide 5,000 euros to every buyer of an electric car in Serbia, with an additional incentive for the purchase of locally produced cars.

In April 2022, Stellantis and Serbia signed an agreement to jointly invest 190 million euros ($204 million) in launching electric vehicle production in Kragujevac. At the time, Vucic said production would begin in early 2024.
