ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC)— The 2024 WesTex Connect Fireworks Spectacular featured a large fireworks display followed by a bonfire.
The fireworks began around 10:30 p.m., and shortly afterward, onlookers saw a fire flaring up in the area where they had been fired. Brush trucks from the Abilene Fire Department arrived promptly, followed by other fire trucks.
Our reporter on the scene saw fireworks sparking from the fire, which was ignited near the ground. Firefighters are on the scene trying to get the fire under control.
