Fire damages gray brick apartment building on Chicago’s West Side

CHICAGO (CBS) — A fire broke out Monday evening at a graystone apartment complex in the North Lawndale neighborhood.

The Chicago Fire Department called a still-and-box alarm, additional equipment and manpower to battle the fire at 1515 S. Homan Ave. In a photo from the scene, a fire hose was seen through the door.

The photo of the scene indicated that the slightly smaller neighboring house on S. Homan Ave. 1517 may also have been damaged. A fire truck tower ladder was seen on the roofline of that building.

The building dates to 1515 S. Homan Ave., according to a real estate listing. from 1905, while the one from 1517 at S. Homan Ave. dates from 1915.

No injuries were reported in the fire. Information about the cause was not immediately available.
