Firefighters were working overnight to battle multiple fires that broke out in South Los Angeles.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the first fire was reported around 1:40 a.m. in the 120 block of E. 51st Street in the South Park neighborhood.

More than fifteen minutes later they were able to extinguish the flames.

Investigators are trying to determine what caused the fire, which started as a garbage fire and spread to a nearby building.

Hours later, around 4:15 a.m., Los Angeles County Fire Department crews were dispatched to a fire in the 3600 block of Imperial Highway in Lynwood, department officials said.

The fire, which engulfed parts of a one-story commercial building, was under control by 4:40 a.m., fire officials said.
