One person was found dead inside a burning home in the Eagle Rock area on Sunday, fire officials said.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the fire was reported just before 11:30 a.m. at a one-story home in the 5200 block of N. Townsend Avenue.
It took just over 30 minutes for crews to extinguish the flames, they said. While fighting the fire, they reported that there was “excessive storage space” in the house, which “obstructed access” to the room where the fire broke out.
“Preliminary reports indicated a possible entrapment within the structure,” LAFD said. “Unfortunately, firefighters located a resident who was deceased and could not be resuscitated.”
The victim was only identified as a 72-year-old man.
No other injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation. According to the fire brigade, there were no working smoke detectors in the home upon arrival.
