(CBS-DETROIT) – First lady Jill Biden will visit Michigan this week, following the first presidential debate of the year.
According to her office, the first lady will arrive at Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids on Tuesday, July 2, at 5:15 p.m.
During his stay in Michigan, Dr. Biden will first participate in an event in Middleville on Wednesday that will highlight the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s summer feeding programs for children.
She will then visit the Hidden Helpers summer camp in Middleville as part of her Joining Forces initiative. She is visiting the camp to show her support for “military children of wounded, ill or injured service members or veterans,” her office said.
Later that same day, the first lady will visit Traverse City for a community event.
Dr. Biden also visited Michigan in Maywhen she and Second Gen. Douglas Emhoff made multiple campaign stops to meet with community members.
This visit comes after President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump participated in the first presidential debate of the 2024 election season. After the debate, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer said the following The difference between the two men “couldn’t be clearer.”

Both the president and the former president have made multiple visits to Michigan this year to drum up support among voters in the key state.
Trump was most recent in michigan last monthwhen he hosted a roundtable discussion at 180 Church in Detroit, before addressing a crowd at Turning Point Action’s “People’s Convention.” It was the former president’s first visit to Michigan after his visit ‘hush money’ conviction.
Mr. Biden was last in Detroit when he spoke at the NAACP Fight for Freedom Dinner on May 19th.
