(CBS-DETROIT) – Five people, including two children, are recovering from a crash in Chesterfield Township Saturday evening.

Chesterfield Police say officers responded to a report of a crash involving injuries at the intersection of 21 Mile Road and Gratiot Avenue around 7:48 p.m.

Responding officers observed heavy damage to the front of a Toyota pickup and a Chevy Blazer.

A 9-year-old boy, who was riding in the truck, and one person in the Blazer are in the hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

Three others in the truck, two adults and a child, were taken to hospital and then released.

According to police, alcohol does not appear to have played a role in the accident.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Chesterfield police at 586-949-2322.
