Five people were killed and one teenager seriously injured in a shooting in North Las Vegas, police say

A man suspected in a shooting that left five people dead and a teenage girl seriously injured in North Las Vegas committed suicide Monday night after officers tracked him down Tuesday morning, police said.

Officers responded to an apartment shortly after 10 p.m. Monday on reports of a shooting and found two injured women who were later pronounced dead, police said. They were in their early forties and late fifties.

Detectives then discovered a 13-year-old girl injured in the apartment. The child is in critical condition at University Medical Center in Las Vegas, police said.

In a nearby apartment, officials found two other women in their mid-20s and a man in his early 20s who had been shot. They were pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

Identification of the five victims will be provided by the Clark County Coroner’s Office, police said. No one was immediately reached at the coroner’s office Tuesday afternoon.

Police named Eric Adams, 47, a suspect in the deaths.

On Tuesday morning, North Las Vegas police received information about Adams’ possible whereabouts, police said. Criminal Apprehension Team officers later found him, and he “was armed with a firearm and fled to the backyard of a residence at that location,” police said.

Officers began giving verbal commands to drop the weapon, but “Adams ignored those commands and died by suicide,” police said.

The Las Vegas Police Force Investigation Team is assisting and conducting an investigation, North Las Vegas police said.

Police received no additional information Tuesday afternoon. More details about the “general investigation” will be released at a later date, police said.

A motive for the killings was not released.
