Shortage of air traffic controllers

The CBS New York investigative team is covering the shortage of air traffic controllers for over a year now, and I recently took a look at how the FAA tries to train more staff in places like Vaugh College in Queens.

FAA data from 2023 showed that New York’s main air traffic control center, TRACON, was at about 54% staffing, compared to a national average of 81%. Additionally, there was a national shortage of about 3,000 air traffic controllers.
