It was a perfect sunny Sunday in Sunrise, which was good news for Florida Panthers fans.
That’s because the team held Pantherfest 2024 at Amerant Bank Arena, using much of the outdoor asphalt for fun.
The event was by invitation only to Territory Members, which is what the Panthers call their season seat owners.
Traditional carnival games were presented on the asphalt, there were interactive sports stands, a snow cone station, floor hockey, music, face painting and much more.
The nice thing for those in attendance was that the Panthers players were there for the entire event, and not just sitting in a chair signing autographs.
You can shoot water to blow up a balloon against Mackie Samoskevich before playing a little football with Anton Lundell or ball hockey with Carter Verhaeghe, then have a chat with Spencer Knight as he helps you prepare a frozen treat .
There was also a face painting station, autograph sessions and a question-and-answer session with fans and Panthers star Matthew Tkachuk.
It certainly looked like a good time for everyone involved, especially the younger fans.
Currently there are more territory members than ever before.
The Panthers announced before the season that the team had completely sold out their season tickets for the first time in franchise history.
Last season, Florida sold all of their lower-level season seats, so it’s not terribly surprising to see what was left after the team went out and won the Stanley Cup in June.
Because that was the case, some fans said they encountered longer lines and weren’t able to do everything they wanted to do in the four hours that Pantherfest was held.
Overall, you have to give it to the Panthers for putting on such a fun, friendly event for thousands of their fans.
It seemed like everyone, including the players, had a lot of fun on Sunday, both inside and outside the arena.
