FORGE has launched its first regional chapter of the organization, FORGE North Mississippi, billed as a partnership between local businesses and community leaders committed to bringing the FORGE mission, along with all of its initiatives, to the area.
“Originally, FORGE stood for ‘Family Organizations Recruiting Great Employees,’ which emphasized the role of local family businesses working together to attract and retain talented employees,” said FORGE President Melinda Lowe. “As we have grown and expanded our mission, we have chosen to focus less on the acronym and more on the power of the word FORGE itself. It reflects our commitment to building a skilled workforce, creating opportunities for career readiness and forging pathways to success in in-demand industries. While the acronym is no longer central to our identity, the values of community, workforce development and empowerment continue to guide everything we do. we do.
FORGE North Mississippi will focus on promoting career readiness and increasing awareness of opportunities in the construction and trades industries. Through connections with local employers and practical learning experiences, the chapter aims to inspire students and help meet the growing demand for skilled professionals in the region.
“We are thrilled to expand the FORGE mission to North Mississippi, and we are grateful to the companies and partners who are joining us,” said Lowe.
Laura Tinsley, director of preconstruction services at Century Construction Group, and FORGE board member, said Century was excited to be part of a “transformative effort.”
“By supporting the next generation of skilled workers, we can ensure they have the opportunities and resources they need to succeed. I’m excited to help create pathways for North Mississippi students to enter these in-demand industries to enter and build a bright future for themselves and our region,”
