MINNEAPOLIS— Last year Las Vegas caused a sensation with the opening of the Sphere locationbut Minneapolis wants to give the competition an edge with a harder geometric game.
A new event space will open later this year in the North Loop neighborhood, one of the metro area’s premier entertainment venues. The space, called Royalston Square, plans to use projectors to transport visitors to any number of locations: art museums, deep under the sea and even into space.

The mastermind behind the new space expects to host everything from unforgettable weddings to extravagant art shows.
“We can transform the space based on what’s happening during the event, taking the audience from one world to another to another so they experience everything at the same time,” said Steve Hark, CEO of Entourage Events Group. .
Royalston Square is expected to open in October and will be located about a half-mile north of Target Field.

According to an announcement from the North Loop Neighborhood Association, there are currently no plans to project images onto the exterior of the building, which is unlike the Sphere, which is located at The Venetian Resort and has a programmable LED exterior for displaying of wrap-around moving images. The Vegas location is equipped with 160,000 speakers and more than 260 million video pixels.
